The College of Law is the only full-time undergraduate school of laws in Wuzhou, which was developed from the Department of Political Science and Law in Guangxi University, Wuzhou.
After its upgrading to an undergraduate university in 2006, the Department of Laws and Public Administration was established. In 2008, full-time students of Law were enrolled.
In July 2013, it merged with the Department of Social Sciences.
In 2014, it merged with the Department of Chinese to form the School of Grammar.
In May 2018, the College of Grammar was split into the College of Laws and Public Administration, the College of Marxism, and the College of Literature and Media.
In September 2021, the College of Laws and Public Administration was split into the College of Laws and the College of Management.
The College of Law insists on taking Xi Jinping’s thought of rule of law as its guide, thoroughly implementing the spirit of the Decision of the CPC Central Committee on Several Major Issues of Comprehensively Promoting the Rule of Law and the Decision of the CPC Central Committee on Several Major Issues of Adhering to and Perfecting the Socialist System with Chinese Characteristics and Promoting the Modernization of the State Governance System and Governance Capability, adhering to the motto of “Unity of Knowledge and Practice, Be the Public Servant of the World” and the school spirit of “Benevolent, Magnanimous, Dedicated, Meticulously”, continuously strengthening discipline construction, improving scientific research, improving teaching quality and expanding social services, which have been well received by the school and the community.
At present, there are 500 full-time students under 1 bachelor program (Law) in our college. As for the teachers (part-time teachers included), we have a total number of approximately 30. In recent years, our teachers have been undertaking more than 50 scientific research and teaching reform projects at all levels. Besides, we have won nearly 10 prizes of achievements in scientific research and several Guangxi Social Science Outstanding Achievement Awards.
The Law Program was listed the Pilot Major for Transition and Development of Wuzhou University.
The Economic Law Program was listed the First-batch Key Principle Construction Program of Wuzhou University.
The Teaching Group of Economic Law was listed Excellent Teaching Group Construction Program of Wuzhou University.
At present, the College of Law is actively promoting the construction of disciplinary force in the frontier areas of foreign-related rule of law and digital economy rule of law. It is the main comprehensive platform for teaching, research and service of foreign-related law in Wuzhou City and East Region of Guangxi, and has played an active role in the development and construction of China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone and Wuzhou Comprehensive Free Trade Zone.
The College attaches great importance to practical teaching links and employment work, and has established teaching and research practice bases and cooperative relationships with more than 10 units, such as Wuzhou Municipal People's Court at two levels, Municipal People's Procuratorate at two levels, Changzhou District Judicial Bureau and Guangxi Yiyuan Law Firm. There are experimental training rooms such as mock courts in the school. The passing rate of National Judicial Examination in the whole school has been higher than the national average for many years, and the passing rate in 2021 is as high as 43%. The quality of law graduates is well recognized by the society, the initial employment rate ranks high in the university, and the graduates are spread all over Guangxi and GBA (Guangdong-Hong Kong- Macao Greater Bay Area) discipline inspection and supervision, public prosecution, law enforcement and state-owned enterprises, private enterprises and other units. Many of them have become the backbone of business, and a number of outstanding talents have emerged, making important contributions to local economic and social development.
Entering a new era, in the new historical orientation of national development, in the context of the autonomous region’s vigorous implementation of high-quality development strategy, around the ASEAN and East Integration efforts to open up the development of the “two veins”, the College of Law established the development goals in accordance with ones set by the university’s 14th Five-Year Plan. the College of Law has taken the initiative and forged ahead, taking RCEP as an opportunity to accelerate discipline construction and talent cultivation, actively serving the construction of “One Belt, One Road”, fully docking with GBA and China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone and striving to make greater contributions to the local economic and social development.
