Library Introduction

The predecessor of Wuzhou University Library is the library of Wuzhou Branch of Guangxi University, which was founded in 1985. In 2003, the library of Wuzhou Branch of Guangxi University has amalgamated with the library of Wuzhou Institute of Education and the library of Wuzhou Normal School. In October 2005, the main building of the library in the North Campus moved into the new building on the top of the mountain, which is the location of Wuzhou University Library. In 2006, Wuzhou Branch of Guangxi University was upgraded to Wuzhou University, and the library was renamed as Wuzhou University Library (Hereinafter referred to as "the library"). At present, the library has four departments: circulation department, reading department, editing department and information technology department.

The library insists on paying equal attention to printed books and electronic books. So now it has become a multi-discipline, multi-level and multi-carrier library holding system focusing on Economics, Management and Literature, covering Arts, Law, Science, Pedagogy, Philosophy and other subjects. Since 2014, the library has made great efforts in collecting local documents, and intensive bookshelves dedicated to collecting ancient books were built. At present, there are about 5,000 ancient books, 1,000 Vietnamese Chinese characters and more than 10,000 contract documents since Qing Dynasty.

Since October 2010, the library has adopted the "Guangzhou Tuchuang Library Cluster Management System" (Interlib) as the computer management system, and the library's acquisition, cataloguing, circulation, retrieval and other business work are fully managed by computers ever since then. Besides the conventional lending and borrowing service for books and periodicals, it provides many other services including various kinds of digital information services with the introduction of CNKI, Superstar Duxiu Knowledge Base, VERS, "51CTO College" online skills learning database, New Oriental Education & Technology, EBSCO and other literature type databases. The “Economic and Social Development Database of Zhuxi Economic Belt” co-built by Wuzhou University and GTA provided support for training talents suitable for local economic and social development.

In order to conform to the development of the times, Wuzhou University Library has gradually built into a comprehensive institution integrating book borrowing, cultural exhibition and ancient book collection. In October 2019, Wuzhou University Museum settled on the first and second floors of the library, which was divided into three branches: Xijiang Commerce and Culture Museum, Gem Culture Museum and Xijiang River Basin Folk Literature Special Collection Hall. In October 2020, Wuzhou University Museum became a national 3A-level scenic spot, open to teachers, students and people from all walks of life.
