Since its establishment in July 2017, the College of Marxism of Wuzhou University, adhering to the principle of believing in Marxism and spreading the thought of Marxism, has orientated itself as "inheriting the red gene, cultivating new people of the times, seeking truth and pragmatic innovation, and enforcing the Dongrong strategy (cooperation between Guangxi and Guangdong)". Also, it holds fast to the College motto of "cultivating people with moral integrity, adhering to integrity and innovation, seeking truth and pragmatism", and upholds the principles of "building the College as a community with a strong faith to establish good academic atmosphere with joy and passion, and promoting development. The College has been actively carrying out teaching innovation, scientific research, discipline construction, academic exchanges and social services.
The College has two undergraduate majors in philosophy and ideological and political education, seven teaching and research sections (“Basic Principles of Marxism", "Introduction to Mao Zedong Thought and Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics", "Outline of Modern Chinese History", "Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Legal Basis", "Situation and Policies”, "philosophy", and “Ideological and Political Education” respectively), and an administrative office. It is an independent teaching and research department under the administrative leadership of the Party Committee and administrative leaders in university. It is responsible for the teaching of ideological and political theory, the construction of Marxist theory discipline, and the cultivation of undergraduates of philosophy, postgraduates and doctors of Marxist theory (in cooperative with other schools).
The College has a team of ideological and political teachers with high political quality, deep passion, new thinking, broad vision, strict self-discipline and upright personality. At present, the School has 52 teachers on regular payroll, including 4 professors, 9 associate professors, 18 doctors (including doctoral students), 1 doctoral supervisor, 2 master's supervisors, 1 member of the integrated ideological and political education steering committee of Guangxi universities, colleges and primary schools, 1 vice chairman of teaching instruction committee of the course of "Outline of Modern Chinese History" in Guangxi universities, 1 director of China ethics society, 1 outstanding talent of ideological and political education in Guangxi universities, 1 vice president of Guangxi International Communist Movement History Association, and 4 backbone teachers of ideological and political education in Guangxi universities.
The first-level discipline of Marxism theory in the College is the key discipline of Wuzhou University. It has five teaching and research platforms, (namely, Guangxi united front theoretical research base, Southeast Guangxi Marxist communication research base, Guangxi and Southeast Asian religious comparative research center, teaching research center for ideological and political courses, and bilingual teaching research center for ideological and political courses), and other four teaching and scientific research innovation team studios ("excellent talent studio of ideological and political education of Guangxi universities", "high level talent studio of Wuzhou University", "network culture studio" and "youth Marxist studio".
In strict accordance with the standards for the construction of ideological and political theory courses in Colleges and universities, the standards for the construction of Marxism schools in Colleges and universities, and the opinions on strengthening the construction of Marxism colleges in the new era, the School focuses on creating the "three three three" mixed teaching mode (namely, the three requirements for teaching objectives, three emphases for teaching process and three stages for teaching development) of ideological and political theory courses and the red Wuzhou loyalty spectrum situational ideological and political courses. Its teaching results have been mainly recommended by China Education Daily. All teachers and students of the College never forget their original intention and keep their mission in mind. Taking Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as its guide, the College aims to strengthen morality, cultivate people, and carry forward ideals and beliefs. And it strives to enhance its core competitiveness and academic influence, makes continuous efforts to build an influential Marxism College and Marxist theory discipline in Guangxi, and contributes its wisdom and strength to the construction the application-oriented high-level Wuzhou University.
