At present, College of Electronics and Information Engineering has over 1,600 full-time students and 60 teaching and administrative staff. Among the 48 full-time teachers, 85.5% of whom are with master degrees, we have 7 professors, 11 associate professors, 3 senior engineers, 14 PhDs, 1 First-level Outstanding Talent of Wuzhou, 7 part-time MA student supervisors, 9 dual-qualification teachers and 2 committee members of the Advisory Committee of Electronic Information Teaching in Guangxi.
We offer 5 undergraduate programs: Electronic Information Engineering, Communications Engineering, Optoelectronic Information Science and Engineering, Robot Engineering, Microelectronics Science and Technology.
Electronic Information Engineering is the national specialty and the national first-class undergraduate specialty under construction. The Program Group of Electronic Information is in the list of the first-period pilot program group for the transition and development of the newly-established undergraduate universities in Guangxi. Information and Communications Engineering (first-level discipline in Wuzhou University) was entitled as one of the provincial first-class disciplines (Class B) while Signal and Information Processing (second-level discipline in Wuzhou University) was listed the key discipline of colleges and universities in Guangxi. Our School has been constructing the master degree program for Electronic Information. Having Guangxi Intelligent Microscope Equipment Engineering Technology Research Center, Guangxi Key Laboratory of Machine Vision and Intelligent Control, Guangxi Postdoctoral Innovation Practice Base, Laboratory of Image Processing and Intelligent Information System (Guangxi Colleges and Universities Key Laboratory), Electronic Technology Experimental Teaching Center (Guangxi Colleges and Universities Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center) and Provincial Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center of Electronic Technology and Communications Engineering, Wuzhou “Talent Highland” of Electronic Information Technology, our School has become the important platform of research and innovation of electronic information technology in the east of Guangxi.
We attach great importance to the cultivation of students’ practical innovation abilities. Our students have been participating in numerous contests and competitions, winning the prizes and topping in the colleges and universities in Guangxi: NUEDC(National Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest), EECC(China Engineering Robot Contest), China College IC Competition, National Software and Information Technology Professional Talent Competition and Guangxi Artificial Intelligence Competition. Our School has become the important base for cultivating high-level talents in IT application for the Pearl River-Xijiang River Economic Belt.
Combining the basic research and applied basic research, we have achieved a serial of innovative research fruits in Image Processing, Intelligent Controlling and Communications Technology. During the recent 5 years, our School has been undertaking more than 40 programs including 5 National Social Science Fund Projects and 15 Guangxi Projects with a total funding for scientific research of over 25,000,000 yuan. In addition, more than 100 academic papers were published, and we had 18 national authorized patents and 5 software copyrights. We have made great contributions to the development of the local economy and society.
In the recent 2 years, we have some achievements in Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education, undertaking more than 10 national Undergraduate Innovation and Entrepreneurship Projects. Our students also performed pretty well in national “Internet Plus” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest for College Students and in China College Students’ Entrepreneurship Competition.
