On the afternoon of May 18, 2023, the signing and opening ceremony of International Student Volunteer Service Workstation co-established by Wuzhou University and Wuzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital was officially held. It is the first international student volunteer service workstation jointly built by the health system and the education system in Wuzhou. Leaders from Foreign Affairs Office of Wuzhou, Health Commission of Wuzhou , Wuzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Wuzhou University and international student representatives attended the ceremony.
The workstation creates an innovative model for the collaborative development of education system and medical system. It offers a good platform for the communication and development between international students and medical workers, carrying forward the quintessence of TCM, and helps TCM to go globe-wide under the Belt and Road Initiative.
At the opening ceremony , Member of the Party Group and Deputy Director of the Health Commission of Wuzhou, Mr Chen Yujia said that the founding of International Student Volunteer Service Workstation is the implementation of the strategies of the 20th CPC National Congress on “Promoting the inheritance and innovative development of Traditional Chinese Medicine”. It is also a progress made by Wuzhou in promoting the high-quality integration of TCM into the development of The Belt and Road Initiative. It provides a platform for promoting TCM exchange, opening up and cooperation with other countries.
Secretary of the Party Committee of the CPC of Wuzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital , Mr Liang Ping said that, the founding of the workstation marks a solid step forward for Wuzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital in promoting TCM culture and foreign exchange and cooperation. He hopes that international student volunteers can make good use of the volunteer service workstation as an exchange platform to continue to promote the spirit of "dedication, friendship, mutual assistance, and progress", tell the stories of China well, and spread the essence of TCM. In the practice of volunteer service, he hopes the international students are able to enhance their understanding and love of traditional Chinese culture, especially the distinctive culture of TCM, and provide practical feedback to society and transmit positive energy to the world.
Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the CPC, Vice President of Wuzhou University, Mr Bin Yuejing hopes the international students know more about Traditional Chinese Medicine, and know more about China, and devote themselves to TCM research and practice, try their best to become the disseminators of TCM to the world, promoting cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and other countries, making contributions to the Belt and Road Initiative and the great journey of building a community with a shared future for mankind.
Tian Weibin, the international student representative from Cambodia, thanked Wuzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine for providing service station and training platform for international students, and said that while doing the work of translating, they will try their best to become the disseminators of TCM to the world, promoting cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and other countries.
After the opening ceremony, the leaders of both sides held a signing ceremony and a symposium. In addition, the international students visited the culture front of the TCM and experienced traditional Chinese medicine treatments such as cupping and massage.
